Feel free to make a reasonable offer. For the consideration of the true amber collector who already owns it all, I have combined my two loves of Amber and Eyeglasses. Through my extensive research on the history of eyeglasses and amber, this pair of amber sunglasses offered here is believed to be the first ever made. In our age of'everything has been done before', it is not often that one is allowed the opportunity to be the owner of a new concept.

With this hand crafted artwork, you could be the first to wear amber sunglasses. There will only ever be five in total created from my hands and this is the first one (1 of 5). I have been hand crafting custom eyeglasses from natural materials since 2005 and my works live with their owners all around the world. For the foundation of the sunglasses, Verawood has been chosen for its extreme durability and greenish color to compliment the yellows and oranges of the applied amber. Verawood also has a very beautiful scent similar to Sandalwood.

Notice the care taken to carefully shape each piece of amber so that it fits perfectly together like a puzzle. The amber and wood has been sanded and buffed to achieve a glass like finish. The amber has so much depth and it truly reflects light and looks as if it were glass. Notice that I have included below an image of the uncut amber that was used for this piece.

You will see the very rich swirls and patina of the pieces before they were cut down to size. With time, exposure to uv rays and oxygen, the amber on these sunglasses will darken back to this state. The amber sunglasses come with a custom wood box made from Jatoba and Koa woods. Please see below an image that shows the measurements of this specific pair of sunglasses. The total weight of the sunglasses with lenses is 35 grams.

A typical vintage plastic frame of similar size would be around 40-45 grams. The temples connect to the fronts with Italian spring hinges for a forgiving fit.
