Lovely, antique natural Baltic amber box. Artfully created with slices of natural amber set in mosaic fashion all around framing a central egg yolk medallion on the lid, undulating rectangular border, piano hinge and wooden lining.

Box measures 3 5/8" by 3" and 1 3/8 height. With a small chip to one corner on the lid.

It appears that some sort of "grout" was used, and this substance seems to have loss in some areas; one edge in particular. Any other imperfections are naturally occurring characteristics of the amber stone. Stones are smooth and shiny, not dried out.
