Although I was a little down and out over the summer I still managed to acquire some incredible and important treasures for my first sale of the fall season. This sale offers a wide variety of great examples from across many categories of collecting. The items include some exceptionally rare and important examples including some imperial wares, and items dating from the Song dynasty to the earlier Republic period. This sale features items from three important estate collections including the late Chinese ceramics expert Michael Vermeers collection, Mr.
H Pao of Toronto who owned a high-end shop in the famous four seasons hotel in Toronto for many years and whom was considered one of North Americas top experts and scholars in many categories of antique Chinese art. Also some of the smaller scholarly items including the jade examples are from the estate of A Abraham. Abraham owned the Imperial Jade Shop situated in the famous King Edward hotel until the year 1976 (40 years ago) when the hotel was renovated and the shop never re-opened. These items have been in storage since the shop closed down and have not seen the light of day until now! Abraham was a highly respected jade dealer, appraiser, and collector in the 1950-70s period.
I do not know a great deal about many of the objects myself. Being out of this known experts estate I believe there is a good chance there are some important and rarely found examples being offered.I do wish everyone the very best of luck winning the auctions! This amber specimen is an incredible and very rarely found example. I have had this specimen inspected by our local gemologist we have worked with for upwards of ten years. They have confirmed this specimen is authentic natural white amber.
They said a lacquer layer was applied to the outside of the specimen to preserve it and that the whole specimen is one original chunk of natural white amber. The specimen also came from the estate with this fine display stand that features the specimen very nicely. The amber specimen by itself measures an impressive 11 3/4 inches long, by 4 1/4 inches wide, and 4 inches thick. The amber specimen fixed in its stand measures 18 1/4 inches tall.
The amber specimen itself weighs an astonishing 1856 grams, or just over 4 pounds! BEST OF LUCK WITH THE AUCTIONS! All Canadian Residents will be charged HST Based on Address. We make great effort to honestly and accurately describe each item listed.
Items are not returnable if it is not of the age or value you were hoping it to be, with No Exceptions. Many of the items listed are old antique pieces and in many cases over a hundred, or hundreds of years old.
